3, 27-dihydroxy-20 (29)-Lumen -28-acid methyl ester, a DNA topoisomerase II inhibitor (IC50 8.9 μm/mL), was isolated from the roots of Artemisia camel. Artemisia camel is distributed throughout Asia and is commonly found in northwest China. The plant has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine for rheumatism, abscesses, inflammation and many other diseases.
