289039-85-6 - Introduction
Methyl 3-chloro-5-iodobenzoate is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H6CIO2. The following is a description of its nature, use, formulation and safety information:
Nature:
-Appearance: Colorless to slightly yellow crystalline solid
-Melting point: 60-62 degrees Celsius
-Boiling Point: Not Applicable
-Density: 1. 94g/cm3
-Stability: stable at room temperature, but avoid contact with strong oxidants
Use:
- Methyl 3-chroo-5-iodobenzoate is used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and is often used to synthesize compounds with medicinal activity.
-It can be used as a raw material for pesticides, insecticides and antibiotics.
Method:
Methyl 3-chloro-5-iodobenzoate can be synthesized by the following steps:
1. Iodobenzoic acid and sodium nitrite were reacted under the catalysis of sulfuric acid to obtain 2-nitrobenzoic acid.
2. 2-nitrobenzoic acid and thionyl chloride are reacted at low temperature to obtain 3-nitrobenzoic acid.
3. 2-Nitrobenzoic acid and 2,4, 6-trichlorotoluene were reacted under acidic conditions to obtain 3-chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid.
4. Under acidic conditions, iodic acid reacts with 3-chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid to generate 3-chloro-5-iodobenzoic acid.
5. Finally, 3-chloro-5-iodobenzoic acid is reacted with methanol to produce Methyl 3-chloro-5-iodobenzoate.
Safety Information:
- Methyl 3-chloro-5-iodobenzoate is an organic compound, which has certain toxicity and should be operated with caution.
-Contact with skin, eyes or inhalation of vapors may cause irritation and direct contact should be avoided.
