Method for preparing 3,4 '-Diethyl-1,1'-biphenyl:
can be prepared by esterification of phenylpropionic acid and acetic anhydride. First, phenyl propionic acid is subjected to a condensation reaction with ethanol and an H2SO4 catalyst to prepare ethyl phenyl propionate. 3,4 '-Diethyl-1,1'-biphenyl is then obtained by heating the reaction of ethyl phenylpropionate and acetic anhydride in the presence of a concentrated H2SO4 catalyst.
