-It can also be used as a paint, plastic and rubber additive.
Method:
- 4-oxoCyclohexanepropanoic acid can be prepared by the following steps:
1. Cyclohexanone is reacted with methanol to produce 4-methoxy Cyclohexanone.
2. 4-methoxycyclohexanone reacts with bromoacetone (3-bromopropanone) to generate 3-(4-methoxycyclohexyl) acetone.
3.3-(4-methoxy cyclohexyl) acetone and sodium hydroxide (sodium hydroxide) reaction, hydroxylation of 3-(4-Oxo cyclohexyl) acetone.
4. Finally, 3-(4-oxocyclohexyl) acetone is acidified with acid to generate 4-oxoCyclohexanepropanoic acid.
Safety Information:
- 4-oxoCyclohexanepropanoic acid is generally relatively safe under normal conditions of use, but it still needs to be used reasonably according to specific conditions to avoid contact with skin and eyes.
