3-CYANOPROPYLDIISOPROPYLCHLOROSILANE - Introduction
(3-Cyanopropyl) diisopropylchlorosilane, also known as 3-(methylisopropyl)-1-(chlorosilane) propionitrile, is an organosilicon compound. Its chemical formula is C7H14ClNSi and its molecular weight is 177.73.
Nature:
(3-Cyanopropyl) diisopropylchlorosilane is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a strong pungent odor. It has a melting point of -92°C and a boiling point of 131-133°C. It can react with water to produce aerosols and should be kept away from heat sources and flames.
Use:
(3-Cyanopropyl) diisopropylchlorosilane is widely used in organic synthesis. It can be used as a crosslinking agent for silica gel, can also be used in the synthesis of surfactants, and can also be used to prepare liquid crystal displays.
Preparation Method:
(3-Cyanopropyl) diisopropylchlorosilane can be prepared by three methods. One method is to react 3-cyanopropylcarbinol with propenynyltriisopropylchlorosilicone; the second method is to react 3-cyanopropanol with triisopropylchlorosilane; and the third method is to react propene chloride with 3-cyanopropylcarbinol.
Safety Information:
(3-Cyanopropyl) diisopropylchlorosilane is irritating and may be harmful to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Avoid contact with skin and eyes, and maintain good ventilation. Personal protective equipment such as goggles, gloves and respirators should be worn during operation. During storage, it should be kept away from fire and heat sources and stored in a cool and dry place.
