3-NITRO-2-BENZYLSULFANYLPYRIDINE - Introduction
2-(benzylthio)-3-nitropyridine is an organic compound with the chemical formula C∩ H₂ N O₂. The following is a description of its nature, use, formulation and safety information:
properties: 2-(benzylthio)-3-nitropyridine is a light yellow to orange solid, with special sulfide and nitro functional groups. It is slightly soluble in organic solvents and hardly soluble in water. Its melting point is about 110-115°C.
Uses: 2-(benzylthio)-3-nitropyridine can be used in the synthesis of nitrogen heterocyclic compounds in organic synthesis, such as pyrrole and diazine compounds. It can also be used as an intermediate of organic light-emitting materials for the preparation of fluorescent dyes and dye-sensitized solar cells.
Preparation method: A common preparation method is to generate 2-(benzylthio)-3-nitropyridine by the reaction of nitric acid and benzyl mercaptan. The reaction is usually carried out at room temperature, the molar ratio of reactants is 1:1, and the reaction time is about several hours to overnight. Finally, the product is purified by steps of crystallization, filtration and washing.
Safety information: Since 2-(benzylthio)-3-nitropyridine is a chemical substance, it must be handled and used with caution. It may be irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory system, so wear appropriate protective equipment such as gloves, glasses and protective face masks during operation. At the same time, it should be operated in a well-ventilated place and avoid inhaling its dust or vapor. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical assistance.
