Nature:
3-Pyridinecarboxylicacid,5,6-dimethyl-(9CI) is a white crystalline solid with the characteristic aroma of niacin. Its chemical formula is C8H9NO2 and its relative molecular mass is 151.16g/mol. It has a melting point of 181-185°C. 3-Pyridinecarboxylicacid,5,6-dimethyl-(9CI) is slightly soluble in water, but easily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone and dichloromethane.
Use:
3-Pyridinecarboxylicacid,5,6-dimethyl-(9CI) is often used as an important intermediate in organic synthesis. It can be used in the synthesis of plant growth regulators, oxalic acid insecticides and some other organic compounds. In addition, it is also used in the preparation of drugs, dyes and coatings.
Method:
3-Pyridinecarboxylicacid,5,6-dimethyl-(9CI) can be prepared by methylation of pyridine carboxylic acid. A common synthetic method is to react 3-pyridinecarboxylic acid with a methyl reagent (such as methyl bromide or methyl sodium iodide) under appropriate reaction conditions. The reaction product can be purified by crystallization to obtain 3-pyridinecarboxyllicacid, 5,6-dimethyl-(9CI) with high purity.
Safety Information:
3-Pyridinecarboxylicacid,5,6-dimethyl-(9CI) has low toxicity under normal circumstances, but it still needs to be operated with caution. In case of contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Avoid inhaling its dust or vapor during use, and should be equipped with appropriate protective measures, such as wearing protective glasses, gloves and masks. At the same time, it should be stored in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place, away from fire and oxidizing agents.
