Preparation | To the mixture of diethyl malonate (10g,62.5 mmol) and allyl bromide (14.25g,187.5 mmol), 5-10°C, Under continuous stirring, slowly add a concentrated solution of sodium ethoxide (8.6g sodium 70 mL ethanol solution). After adding sodium ethoxide, stir the reaction mixture at the same temperature for another 1 hour, then remove the cold water bath, and stir the mixture overnight at room temperature. Excess solvent was removed, the residue was added to water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase is dried by Na2SO4 and evaporated to give a light yellow liquid. The crude substance is purified by vacuum distillation to obtain a colorless liquid. |
