3484-22-8 - Introduction
5-Nitro-2, 3,3-trimethylindoline (5-Nitro-2, 3,3-trimethylindoline), often abbreviated as 5-NTMI, is an organic compound. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
-Appearance: 5-NTMI is a light yellow to yellow crystalline powder.
-Molecular formula: C13H16N2O2
-Molecular weight: 232.28g/mol
-Solubility: 5-NTMI is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and chloroform, and almost insoluble in water.
Use:
- 5-NTMI is widely used in materials and fields of organic optoelectronic devices.
-It can be used as a photosensitive material for photoelectric conversion devices, such as organic solar cells, organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) and photoelectric sensors.
-It can also be used to develop new luminescent materials, organic electronic materials and fluorescent probes.
Preparation Method:
- 5-NTMI can be prepared by nitration of indole. First, nitric acid was added to acetic acid, then excess 3-methylisobutylaluminum bromide and an appropriate amount of alkylating agent C3H7Li were added, and the reaction temperature was controlled at about -78°C for several hours. After completion of the reaction, 5-NTMI was purified by hydrolysis and crystallization.
Safety Information:
- 5-NTMI is organic and toxic, please follow the laboratory safety procedures.
-In contact with skin and eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
-Do not inhale its dust and vapors, and make sure to use protective equipment such as breathing masks and chemical goggles.
-It is recommended to operate in a well-ventilated place to avoid swallowing and contact with food.
-When using and storing, please keep it away from fire and flammable materials.
Please note that for safe handling and detailed information on chemical substances, refer to the relevant Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
