Use:
-Antioxidant: 4,4 '-Bis(hydroxymethyl)biphenyl as a powerful antioxidant, commonly used in rubber, plastics, tires, adhesives and other industrial products, can extend its service life;
-Photopolymerization agent: Due to its bridging structure, 4,4 '-Bis(hydroxymethyl)biphenyl can act as a crosslinking agent in the photopolymerization reaction, it is widely used in the preparation of certain polymeric materials.
Preparation method:
The preparation of 4,4 '-Bis(hydroxymethyl)biphenyl is usually carried out by the condensation reaction of phthalic dianhydride and formaldehyde. The specific steps are as follows:
-Dissolve phthalic dianhydride in an appropriate solvent and gradually add formaldehyde;
-Reaction at low temperature, stirring the reaction system;
