application | 4-fluoro-2-methylphenol is an organic intermediate, which can be prepared from 4-fluoro-2-methylaniline through diazotization reaction. It can be used as an organic synthesis intermediate and a pharmaceutical intermediate. It is mainly used in laboratory research and development processes and chemical production processes. |
preparation | add 70g of water and 26g of concentrated sulfuric acid to a 250mL reaction bottle (pay attention to heat release, slowly add concentrated sulfuric acid to water, the same below), add 17.5 g4-fluoro-2-methylaniline while stirring at room temperature, produce white solid, raise the temperature to 100~105 ℃, completely dissolve, and cool to 0 ℃; slowly add 44.5g of nitrosyl sulfuric acid, control the temperature at -5~5 ℃, keep the temperature for 2h after dropping, and the reaction solution is clarified to obtain diazo solution. Add 66g of water and 19g of concentrated sulfuric acid in another 250mL reaction bottle, raise the temperature to 110 ℃, drop the prepared diazonium liquid, control the dropping acceleration, add water vapor distillation while dropping, make the oil droplets continuously evaporate, and control the temperature at 110 ℃ ~ 115 ℃; After dropping, continue distillation for 2 hours until no oil drops are evaporated. The oil layer is separated, and 11.1g of 1% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution is added for washing, and the oil layer is separated, rectification at top temperature of 80~90 ℃ 10mmHg to obtain 14.8g of 4-fluoro-2-methylphenol, GC:99.5%, with a yield of 83%. |
