It is obtained by heating and rearranging phenyl benzoate. The phenyl benzoate is heated to 70 DEG C to melt, stirring, the anhydrous aluminum trichloride is quickly put in, the reaction escapes hydrogen chloride, and the temperature is raised by itself, and the reaction is 15min at 130 DEG C. Cool and add dilute hydrochloric acid. Filter and wash to neutral. The filter cake was recrystallized with benzene to obtain 4-hydroxybenzophenone with 62% yield.
