production method | obtained by cyclization of acetoacetanilide in the presence of sulfuric acid. Concentrated sulfuric acid was preheated to 75 °c and acetoacetanilide was added in portions to control the temperature between 70 °c and 75 °c. At the end of the addition the temperature was raised to 95 °c and after 15min of reaction it was cooled to 65 °c and the mixture was poured into water. After cooling, filtration, the product was washed with water and methanol, dried and recrystallized from 95% ethanol to give the final product. |
