Application | 2-bromo-5-chloropyridine is an organic intermediate, a colorless solid, and can be made of 2-amino-5-chloropyridine It is prepared by diazotization reaction or 2, 5-dichloropyridine is substituted by hydrogen bromide. |
preparation | bromine (18.0ml,353.7mmol) was slowly added to a solution of 2-amino -5-chloropyridine (15.0 g,116.7mmol) in 47% aq.HBr(75.0ml) at -10 ℃. Slowly add NaNO2(28.1g,407.3mmol) aqueous solution to it. Stir the mixture at -10 to -5°C for 1h, and then stir it at 5°C for 1h. The mixture was neutralized with an aqueous solution of 5M NaOH while the temperature was maintained below 25°C. The precipitate was filtered out and recrystallized with pentane to give 2-bromo-5-chloropyridine. |
