5-Pyrimidinecarboxaldehyde - Introduction
Nature:
Pyrimidine -5-formaldehyde is a colorless to slightly yellow crystal or crystalline powder, soluble in water and ethanol, almost insoluble in ether and benzene. Its melting point is 305-306 degrees Celsius. Pyrimidine -5-carbaldehyde is a weakly acidic compound that can lose protons. Its molecular structure contains a pyrimidine ring and a formaldehyde group.
Use:
Pyrimidine -5-formaldehyde has certain uses in the pharmaceutical field. It is a part of the metabolism of methionine in the organism and, together with other alkaloids, participates in the metabolism of amino acids during protein synthesis. Pyrimidine -5-carbaldehyde is also used as an intermediate in drug synthesis, for the synthesis of some drugs such as anticancer drugs and antiviral drugs.
Preparation Method:
Pyrimidine -5-formaldehyde can be synthesized by a variety of methods. A common method of preparation is the reaction of piperazine and formaldehyde under acidic conditions. During the reaction, one of the amino groups in piperazine reacts with formaldehyde to form pyrimidine -5-formaldehyde.
Safety Information:
Pyrimidine -5-formaldehyde is generally relatively safe under proper use and storage conditions. However, it is still a chemical, need to pay attention to the following safety matters:
-Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes when contacting pyrimidine-5-formaldehyde, and avoid inhaling its dust or gas.
-When using or handling pyrimidine-5-formaldehyde, appropriate personal protective equipment should be equipped, such as protective gloves, goggles and protective clothing.
-Avoid reacting with oxidants, strong acids or strong bases to avoid danger.
-During storage, pyrimidine -5-formaldehyde should be sealed and stored, away from fire and heat sources, and avoid contact with combustibles.
