5893-05-0 - Introduction
N-tritylglycine is an organic compound with the chemical formula C23H19NO3. It has some of the following properties:
1. appearance: N-tritylglycine is usually white crystalline or powdery solid.
2. Solubility: N-tritylglycine is soluble in some non-polar solvents, such as acetonitrile, dimethyl sulfoxide and chloroform, but insoluble in water.
3. Stability: The N-tritylglycine is relatively stable, but it may decompose under strong oxidant or high temperature environment.
N-tritylglycine is a protecting group commonly used in organic synthesis reactions, because its trityl group can be easily introduced and removed by acid catalyzed reaction. One of its main uses is in the synthesis of peptides and proteins in which the side chain of glycine is protected by a trityl group.
The preparation N-tritylglycine usually uses the following steps: First, trityl alcohol is reacted with glycine under acidic conditions to generate N-tritylglycine. After the reaction, the product usually needs to be purified by crystallization, filtration and washing.
Regarding safety, N-tritylglycine are chemicals, and safety precautions should be taken during laboratory operations, such as wearing laboratory gloves and goggles to avoid inhalation or contact with skin. In addition, it also needs to be stored in a sealed, dry place, away from fire and oxidizing agents.
