6-BroMopyridine-3-Methanol - Introduction
6-Bromo-3-hydroxymethylpyridine is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H6BrNO, also known as phenanthrene.
Its properties are as follows:
1. appearance: colorless to light yellow liquid.
2. Boiling point: 212-215°C.
3. density: 1.699g/cm³.
4. Solubility: Soluble in water and common organic solvents, such as ethanol and dimethylformamide.
6-bromo-3-hydroxymethylpyridine is mainly used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. It is useful for the preparation of other organic compounds, such as pyridines, metal complexes and pharmaceuticals. Due to its special properties in organic reactions, it can be used to synthesize complex organic molecules.
There are many methods for preparing this compound. One of the commonly used methods is to react pyridine and acetonitrile with hydrogen bromide to produce 6-bromo-3-pyridinecarbonitrile, which is then reduced to 6-bromo-3-hydroxymethylpyridine. Other methods include pyridine cyclization of carbamates and palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions, among others.
Regarding safety information, 6-bromo-3-hydroxymethylpyridine is an organic bromide and has certain toxicity. Therefore, the following points should be paid attention to during use and storage:
1. Avoid inhalation, skin contact and ingestion, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
2. Maintain good ventilation conditions during operation to prevent the accumulation of gas or vapor.
3. Store in a sealed container, away from fire and oxidant.
4. Do not store or contact with strong oxidizing agents and strong reducing agents to avoid dangerous reactions.
