6003-11-8 - Introduction
Alizarin 2-methyl ether(Alizarin 2-methyl ether) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C15H12O4. It is an orange-red crystal, insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers.
Alizarin 2-methyl ether is widely used in the preparation of dyes in the dye industry. It can be used as an important intermediate for the preparation of various pigments and dyes, especially red and orange dyes. It also has certain fluorescence properties, and also plays a certain role in the research and application of fluorescent dyes.
The method for preparing Alizarin 2-methyl ether is generally to generate B- hydroxy -2-bromocresol by reacting phenol or salicylaldehyde with 2-bromocresol under alkaline conditions, it is then reacted with anthraquinone in an ethereal solvent to give the desired product.
Regarding safety information, Alizarin 2-methyl ether is generally stable and harmless under normal conditions of use. However, like most organic compounds, it can be irritating to the skin, eyes and respiratory system. In handling and use, appropriate protective measures should be taken to avoid direct contact and inhalation. When used in the laboratory, the relevant safety procedures should be observed.
