7608-06-2 - Introduction
Heptylzinc bromide(Heptylzinc bromide) is an organic zinc compound with the chemical formula C7H15ZnBr. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with an odor similar to stannous bromide (methyltin bromide). It decomposes slowly in air and is easily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether.
Heptylzinc bromide are mainly used as important reagents in organic synthesis. It is commonly used in response to activated haloalkenes and aryl radical substitution reactions. In addition, it can also be used in the synthesis of organic zinc reagents and as a precursor for reducing agents and catalysts in organic synthesis.
Heptylzinc bromide are generally prepared by reacting zinc hydride with the corresponding alkyl bromide in ethanol solution. The preparation process requires care to prevent contact with moisture and air.
When using Heptylzinc bromide, you need to pay attention to its toxicity and corrosiveness. It may cause irritation to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Therefore, suitable protective equipment such as gloves, goggles and respiratory protection must be worn during operation. At the same time, care should be taken to avoid contact with water, oxygen and other acidic substances to prevent the production of toxic gases or explosions. Keep containers sealed during storage and store in a dark, ventilated and dry place.
