Use | An important pharmaceutical pesticide intermediate that enhances the absorption of antibiotic drugs and is used as an adjunct to suppositories and glutamate for the treatment of rectal cancer |
Overview | 2-hydroxy-5-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid is an organic intermediate, it can be prepared by reacting 2-methoxy-5-(trifluoromethyl) benzoic acid with iodocyclohexane. |
preparation | 2-methoxy-5-(trifluoromethyl) benzoic acid (5.00g,22.71mmol) place into a flask containing iodocyclohexane (29.4mL,227mmol) and DMF(25mL). The reaction mixture was refluxed for 4H, cooled and the solvent removed in vacuo. The crude product was purified by Silica Gel chromatography eluting with 0-100% EtOAc in ISO-hexane to give the title compound 2-hydroxy-5-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid. 1H NMR (8.29 MHz,CDCl3) Δ10.70 (1H,s),7.80(1H,d),7.15(1H,dd), (1H,d). |
