883-44-3 - Introduction
N-(3-hydroxypyl) phthalimide is an organic compound with the chemical formula C10H11NO3. It is a white or off-white solid, soluble in alcohol and ether, slightly soluble in water.
N-(3-hydroxypropyl)phthalimide are commonly used as reagents or intermediates in organic synthesis. It can be used as a protective agent for carboxylic acids in many reactions, by reacting with carboxylic acids to form esters, which are then removed by heating or acidolysis reactions. In addition, it can also be used as a polymer modifier and amine activator.
The preparation method of N-(3-hydroxypropyl)phthalimide is relatively simple. One common method of preparation is to react phthalic acid with 3-hydroxypropanol. First, phthalic acid is reacted with sodium hydroxide under basic conditions to form the corresponding sodium salt. The sodium salt is then reacted with 3-hydroxypropanol under basic conditions to produce N-(3-hydroxypropyl)phthalimide. Finally, it is precipitated from the reaction system by acidification.
Regarding safety information, the N-(3-hydroxypyl) phthalimide should be used with caution. It may be irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract, so care should be taken to avoid contact when using it. At the same time, further evaluation and experimental verification are needed for other potential risks. In order to use the compound safely, the operation should follow the safety procedures, and take appropriate personal protective measures, such as wearing gloves, goggles, etc. Before use, it is best to read the product-related safety data form for detailed safety information.
