909910-92-5 - Introduction
4-formyl-3,5-dimethylbenzamide is an organic compound with the formula C11H13NO2. It has the form of a colorless crystalline solid.
The compound has the following properties:
-Melting point: about 112-114 degrees Celsius
-Boiling point: about 382 degrees Celsius
-Density: approx. 1.14g/cm³
-Solubility: It is soluble in common organic solvents, such as ethanol, dimethylformamide and chloroform.
It is commonly used as a dye and fluorescent probe. Because of its aldehyde group and benzene ring structure, it can selectively react with other compounds, so it has important applications in organic synthesis. It can also be used as an intermediate for the synthesis of other compounds containing benzamide structures.
The preparation method of 4-formyl-3,5-dimethylbenzamide can be achieved by the aldehyde reaction of 3,5-dimethylaniline. One common method is to react 3,5-dimethylaniline with an oxidizing agent, such as CrO3 or PCC, to form the corresponding aldehyde-based product.
When using 4-formyl-3,5-dimethylbenzamide, pay attention to its safety. It may produce toxic gases at high temperatures, so it should be operated in a well-ventilated laboratory environment. At the same time, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and wear protective gloves and goggles if necessary. If swallowed or inhaled, seek medical assistance immediately.
