92-31-9 - Introduction
Toluidine blue (Toluidine Blue O) is a commonly used synthetic dye, which belongs to the class of quinone imine dyes. This type of dye mainly contains two chromopers of amine group and quinone benzene ring, thus forming chromogenic color. The cations in toluidine blue have a staining effect, and the acidic substances of tissue cells are combined with the cations in them to be stained. Toluidine blue also contains two chromophore groups, which can promote the dye to ionize into salts, help the chromophore to produce dyeing power on the tissue, color the tissue cells on the slice, and dye the nucleus to make it blue. In addition, the cytoplasm of mast cells contains heterochromatic substances such as heparin and histamine, which can be heterochromatic purple-red when encountering toluidine blue. Chondrocytes and mast cells were often stained with toluidine blue.
