3-(3-Pyridin-2-yl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)-propanoic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C11H8N4O3.
The properties of the compound are as follows:
-Appearance: White crystalline solid
-Melting point: about 160-162°C
-Solubility: Soluble in some organic solvents, such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), dichloromethane (DCM) and methanol (MeOH)
This compound is mainly used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical research and organic synthesis. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and anti-bacterial activities.
3-(3-Pyridin-2-yl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)-propanoic acid can be prepared as follows:
1. Reaction of pyridin -2-amine with malonic anhydride to give 3-pyridin-2-ylpropionic acid.
2. In the presence of sulfuryl chloride, it reacts with nicotinimide to generate 3-(3-pyridin-2-yl -1,2, 4-oxadiazol-5-yl)-propionic acid.
