| Physical and Chemical Properties | The active ingredient of ergot toxin is mainly a series of alkaloid derivatives with ergotate acid as the basic structure, such as ergotamine (ergotamine), ergotine (ergonovine), ergotine (ergotoxin), ergotine (ergosine), ergotine (ergocristine), etc. It is blue with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde in slightly acidic liquid, red with fragrant pod blue aldehyde in sulfuric acid, and ammonia gas is released when it is heated with sodium hydroxide.
