In vitro study | AdipoRon increases AMPK activation, PGC-1α expression, and mitochondrial biosynthesis by binding to AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 in C2C12 myotubes. AdipoRon increases AMPK activation, PGC-1α expression, and mitochondrial biosynthesis by binding to AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 in C2C12 myotubes. |
In vivo study | In skeletal muscle and liver of wild-type mice, adipron (50 μg/kg, I. v.) significantly induced phosphorylation of AMPK by AdipoR1 and adipor2. In WT mice, adipron (50 mg/kg, p.o.) insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, and dyslipidemia are improved by activating the AdipoR1-AMPK-PGC-1α pathway in skeletal muscle, or by activating the adipor2-ppar-α pathway in the liver. In addition, adipron can improve diabetes in db/db mice, a genetically obese rodent model, and prolong the shortened lifespan of db/db mice on a high-fat diet.
