overview | cardamom (cardamonin,CDN), with a structure of 2',4'-dihydroxy-6'-methoxychalcone, mainly anti-platelet aggregation, anti-tumor, anti-mutagenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial biological activities. A large number of studies have shown that the inhibitory effect of cardamom on inflammatory mediators prostaglandin E2(PGE2), nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-6 is related to the inhibition of NF-κB signaling pathway. TLR4 is the upstream regulatory gene of NF-κB, and the regulatory effect of cardamom on TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway is only found in our previous research report: the protective effect of cardamom on inflammatory damage of colon mucosa in mice may be related to down-regulation of TLR4 expression in colon tissue, inhibition of NF-κB and mitogen-activated protein kinase activity and reduction of inflammatory mediator release. |
biological activity | Cardamonin (Alpinetin chalcone) naturally exists in the fruits of ginger species and has anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor activities. It is a novel hTRPA1 ion channel antagonist, IC50 is 454 nM, but does not interact with TRPV1 and TRPV4. |
