Overview | Rosin is a natural resin known as "oil on trees", soluble in many organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, acetone, benzene, carbon disulfide, turpentine, oil and alkaline aqueous solution, but insoluble in water. Rosin is widely used in the fields of coating, ink, paint, adhesive, welding aid, rubber, paper making, food, additives and biological products due to its excellent characteristics of anti-corrosion, insulation and adhesion. Rosin industry is one of the four pillar industries of forestry in China, and its trade volume accounts for 60% of the world's total. However, the raw material Rosin itself has three shortcomings: 1) the crystallization tendency is large; 2) it is easy to be oxidized by oxygen in the atmosphere; 3) the acid value is high, which limits its application. In order to overcome the above shortcomings, Rosin needs to be modified. The modified rosin resin can not only improve the application performance of the product, but also improve the added value of rosin, domestic and foreign scholars have been devoted to the study of chemical modification and utilization of rosin. Rosin resin is a general term for a rosin or modified rosin derivative obtained by esterification of a carboxyl group with an alcohol under a certain temperature condition using rosin or modified rosin as a raw material. Rosin is a mixture of resin acids with a tricyclic phenanthrene backbone and a monocarboxylic acid containing two double bonds. According to its different positions of double bonds, can be divided into two categories: very acid resin acid and pimaric acid resin acid, the former content is generally 70% -80%, the latter content of 10%-20%. Very acid resin acid has active double bonds, easy oxidation, resulting in unstable properties of rosin. The esterification requires high temperature (250~300 ℃) for a long time (6~11H) and high activity catalyst to make the reaction proceed smoothly, but the temperature is too high, the time is too long to cause the rosin product cracking, easy oxidation polymerization and affect the yield and quality of the product. In order to make the esterification reaction is complete and to obtain excellent performance of esterification products, attention should be paid to the influence of esterification reaction temperature, time, catalyst and the amount of solubilizing agent dosage, raw materials, feeding ratio, mixing time, the control of the vacuum distillation time and other processes. |
Application | 1. Flux: for electronic circuit board effect is good, with stable performance, good electrical properties and other characteristics, such as hydrogenated Rosin and polymerized rosin as film-forming resin can be used for the preparation of flavor solder paste, when the mass fraction of rosin in flux is in the range of 20% ~ 60%, the spreading property of solder paste, the morphology of solder joint and the ability of anti-collapse can be improved by increasing the content of rosin; when the total mass fraction of rosin in the flux is 40%, the spread test of the solder paste with different proportions of rosin shows the characteristics of full solder joints, bright surface and regular periphery, and the spread rate is basically equivalent, it is about 82%, and the anti-collapse performance of solder paste increases with the increase of the proportion of polymerized rosin. 2.
