Physical and Chemical Properties | Bioactive DMOG (Dimethyloxalylglycine) is an antagonist of α-ketoglutarate cofactor and an inhibitor of HIF prolylhydroxylase. It stabilizes and accumulates HIF-1α protein in the nucleus and is an agonist of HIF-1α. DMOG can increase autophagy. |

DMOG - Uses and synthesis methods
in vitro study
DMOG has only very low activity in the microsomal system, but it can strongly inhibit the synthesis of hydroxyproline in intact cells. In HPASMC, DMOG reduces FGF-2-induced tissue and cyclin A expression by inhibiting prolyl hydroxylase.
in vivo studies
In mouse ischemic skeletal muscle, DMOG inhibits endogenous HIF inactivation and induces angiogenesis. Hypoxia-inducible factor 1a up-regulated by DMOG can enhance the cardioprotective effect of ischemic postconditioning in rats with hyperlipidemia.
