Decamethylferrocene - Introduction

Permethylferrocene is an organometallic compound with the chemical formula (C5H5)2Fe(CH3), also known as methylphenoferric. The following are some information on the properties, uses, preparation and safety of the whole methyl ferrocene:

Nature:
-Permethylferrocene is a brown liquid, soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, ether and chloroform.
-Stable to air and water at room temperature, but susceptible to lack of oxygen in the air and strong oxidants.
-The molecular structure of permethylferrocene is similar to ferrocene, consisting of two metallocene rings and a methyl-substituted iron atom.

Use:
-Permethylferrocene is commonly used as a catalyst for organic synthesis reactions. It can catalyze aryl alkylation on benzene ring, electrophilic substitution reaction and so on.
-Permethylferrocene is also used as a precursor for electronic materials, such as organic photovoltaic materials and molecular magnets.

Preparation Method:
-permethylferrocene can be obtained by reacting percene with a methylating agent (such as methyl bromide or ethyl bromide).
-During the reaction, the permocene reacts with the methylating agent to replace the hydrogen atom on a metallocene group to form a permmethyl ferrocene.
