Demethylmurrayanine - Introduction
Demethylmurayanine (demethylmoraine) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C5H10N2O, which can be used as a pharmaceutical synthetic intermediate for biologically active molecules.
Demethylmurayanine is a white solid with a melting point of about 130°C. It is stable at room temperature and does not easily decompose. It is soluble in water and organic solvents such as methanol and ethanol.
Demethylmurayanine has many uses. It is often used as a chemical synthetic intermediate for the synthesis of biologically active compounds such as natural products and antibiotics. In addition, demethylmurayanine is also used as an initiator for acetaldehyde and as a curing agent for silica gel.
The method for preparing demethylmurayanine is relatively simple. A common method of preparation is the reaction of 2,5-dimethylpyrrolidone with aminoethanol to produce demethylmurayanine.
Regarding safety information, demethylmurayanine is less toxic and safer for humans. However, appropriate protective measures, such as wearing gloves, eye protection and respiratory protection, should still be taken when handling the compound to avoid skin contact, eye and respiratory tract irritation. Again, care was taken to avoid ingestion and inhalation of the compound. When storing and handling, it should be placed in a dry, well-ventilated place, and avoid mixing with oxidants and strong acids. If taken by mistake or accidental exposure occurs, seek medical attention immediately.
