Abstract:
The world produces about 2 × 108t of polymer materials every year, and most of them need various stabilizers to prevent their aging. A large number of organic matter (including polymers, edible oils, food, petroleum products and lubricating oils) have oxidation problems. There are many ways to prevent the oxidation of these organic materials, but the addition of antioxidants is the most effective and useful method today. This paper introduces the mechanism of action of antioxidants, the most effective combination, ideal molecular weight, polymer antioxidants, reactive antioxidants, multifunctional antioxidants and biological antioxidants and other aspects of the recent progress. Recent antioxidant development trend is non-toxic antioxidants instead of toxic antioxidants, pay more attention to the synthesis of ideal molecular weight, polymer, multi-functional and reactive antioxidants, biological antioxidants will also be more detailed study. In addition to the protection of antioxidants from thermal oxidation of polymers, the application of antioxidants in lubricating oil, food industry and medical care is also discussed.
