Tesiparatide was injected under the skin once a week. If you change the date of dosing, allow at least 3 days between dosing.
You can use tesiapatide with or without food.
Your healthcare provider will tell you where to inject tesiapatide. Do not inject the same position twice in a row.
You may have hypoglycemia, feel very hungry, dizzy, agitated, confused, anxious or trembling. For rapid treatment of hypoglycemia, eat or drink fast-acting sugars (juice, hard candy, biscuits, raisins or non-weight loss soda).
You can inject tesiapatide and insulin in the same area (such as the upper arm), but not next to it.
Do not mix insulin and tesiapatide in the same injection.
Don't share this drug with others, even if they have the same symptoms as you.
Stress, illness, surgery, exercise, drinking or skipping meals can affect blood sugar levels. Consult your doctor before you change your dosage or medication schedule.
Each injection pen or prefilled syringe can only be used once. Use it once and throw it away, even if there is still medicine in it. Use a puncture-proof "sharp object" container. Follow state or local laws to find out what to do with this container. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Store the tirzepatide in the refrigerator and avoid light. Do not freeze tesiapatide, throw away if the drug has frozen.
You can also store tesiparatide at room temperature for up to 21 days before use.
What should be avoided when using tirzepatide?
Do not share an injection pen or pre-filled syringe with others, even if the needle has been replaced. Sharing these devices allows infection or disease to spread from one person to another.
Side effects of tesiparatide
If you have the following conditions, please stop using tirzepatide and seek emergency medical help:
Signs of allergic reactions: urticaria; dyspnea; feeling dizzy; swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat; or
Pancreatitis-Severe pain in the upper abdomen spreads to the back, nausea and vomiting.
Tesipatide may cause serious side effects. Please call your doctor immediately if the following conditions occur:
Severe stomach problems;
Changes in vision;
Symptoms of thyroid tumor-neck swelling or mass, dysphagia, hoarseness, or shortness of breath;
Gallbladder problems-chalky stool, stomach pain after eating, nausea, heartburn, abdominal distension, and severe upper abdominal pain, which may spread to the back;
Hypoglycemia-headache, hunger, weakness, sweating, confusion, irritability, dizziness, increased heart rate or nervousness; or
Kidney problems-little or no urination, swollen feet or ankles, feeling tired or short of breath.
Common side effects of texiparatide may include:
Nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting; or
Constipation, indigestion or stomach pain.
