ISOBUTYLUREA - Introduction
N-iso-Butylurea(N-iso-Butylurea) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C5H12N2O. The following is the nature, use, method and safety information of the N-iso-Butylurea:
Nature:
-Appearance: The N-iso-Butylurea is colorless to light yellow crystal or powder substance.
-Solubility: Almost insoluble in water, soluble in more organic solvents (such as ethanol, acetone).
Use:
-alcohol methanol cyclopropylation reaction, N-iso-Butylurea can be used as a catalyst to promote the reaction.
- N-iso-Butylurea can also be used as a synthetic intermediate for glyphosate (a herbicide) and other heterocyclic compounds.
Preparation Method:
- N-iso-Butylurea can be prepared by the reaction of isobutanol and urea under alkaline conditions. In the reaction, isobutanol and urea react in a 1:1 molar ratio in an alkaline solution to form N-iso-Butylurea.
-Another preparation method is to react isobutylamine with formyl chloride to produce N-isobutylformamide, which is then hydrogenated to obtain N-iso-Butylurea.
