In vitro study | Isoliquiritigenin may be effective in preventing diabetic complications by inhibiting rat lens aldose reductase with an IC50 of 320 nM and in preventing the accumulation of sorbitol in human erythrocytes with an IC50 of 2.0 μm. Isoliquiritigenin can be used as a whitening agent by inhibiting the activity of mono-phenol tyrosinase and diphenol tyrosinase with IC50 of 8.1 μm. In DU145 and LNCaP cell lines, Isoliquiritigenin induced cell cycle arrest and inhibited cell growth. In human gastric cancer MGC-803 cells, Isoliquiritigenin induces apoptosis by increasing intracellular free calcium ion concentration, and decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential (Deltapsi(m)). |
