N,N-DIETHYL-2-PHENYLACETAMIDE - Upstream Downstream Industry
N,N-DIETHYL-2-PHENYLACETAMIDE - Introduction
N,N-DIETHYL-2-PHENYLACETAMIDE is an organic compound with the chemical formula C12H17NO. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
N,N-DIETHYL-2-PHENYLACETAMIDE is a colorless to pale yellow liquid. It has low volatility at room temperature and is soluble in most organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers and aromatic hydrocarbons. It has a molecular weight of 203.3g/mol.
Use:
N,N-DIETHYL-2-PHENYLACETAMIDE are often used as intermediates in biological and pharmaceutical fields. It can be used as a reagent in the synthesis of drugs, but also can be used in organic synthesis of N-substitution reaction and the reduction of carboxylic acid derivatives and other reactions.
Method:
N,N-DIETHYL-2-PHENYLACETAMIDE can be prepared by the reaction of phenylacetyl chloride (C6H5CH2COCl) with diethylamine ((C2H5)2NH). During the reaction, diethylamine is added dropwise to phenylacetyl chloride to react to form N,N-DIETHYL-2-PHENYLACETAMIDE with evolution of hydrogen chloride gas. The target product was finally purified by distillation.
Safety Information:
N,N-DIETHYL-2-PHENYLACETAMIDE has low toxicity, but still need to pay attention to safe operation. It should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from fire and oxidizing agents. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as goggles and gloves during use. If you are in contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical examination.
Please note that when handling and using chemical substances, correct operating procedures should be followed, and relevant safety information and appropriate disposal methods should be understood.
