Properties:
1. N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propane diamine is a colorless liquid with a strong ammonia-like odor.
2. It is a strong base that can neutralize acids to form salts and water.
3. N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propane diamine is soluble in water and many organic solvents.
4. It has good surfactant properties and can be used as an emulsifier and surfactant.
Synthesis:
N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propane diamine is typically prepared by the reaction of 1,3-dibromopropane with methylamine under alkaline conditions. The general procedure involves adding 1,3-dibromopropane and methylamine to a suitable solvent, followed by the addition of a base such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The mixture is stirred and the temperature is controlled, and the reaction product precipitates out. The N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propane diamine can be purified by crystallization or distillation.
Safety:
1. N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propane diamine is a corrosive and irritant organic base compound and should be handled with care to avoid skin and eye contact and inhalation of vapors.
2. Proper personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and protective clothing should be worn when handling this compound.
3. Use in a well-ventilated area and keep away from sources of ignition to prevent the generation of hazardous gases.
4. Keep the product out of reach of children and follow the recommended procedures stated on the safety data sheet.

using dimethylaminopropionitrile as a raw material, methanol is hydrogenated in the presence of NI_Al catalyst, and then filtered and rectified to obtain 3-= methylaminopropylamine as a finished product.
This product is an organic raw material intermediate, which is used to prepare dyes and ion exchange resins. Used as epoxy resin curing agent, oil and non cyanide zinc additive, fiber and leather treatment agent and fungicide.
