Application | N-methyldicyclohexylamine is a tertiary amine. Tertiary amines, especially N-methyldialkylamines, are of great economic importance as important chemical industrial intermediates. They are used as vulcanization accelerators in the rubber industry and as catalysts for polymerization and curing in the production of plastic mouldings based on epoxides and polyurethane. They are also suitable for use as corrosion inhibitors and as raw materials for detergents and flocculants. N-methyldialkylamine is also important as an important intermediate for the preparation of substances used in the field of crop protection or pharmaceutical products. |
Preparation | 204.0g(1.13mol) dicyclohexylamine and 185.5g(1.80mol) formaldehyde (29.1%) were reacted in a 1 liter autoclave. The highest pressure generated at 160 ℃ is 2.4MPa. After the reaction is over, 50g of hexene-1 is added and the organic phase is removed from the aqueous phase, and the remaining organic is then distilled. 226.3g of N-methylcyclohexylamine with a purity of 93.7% was obtained, corresponding to the 96.1% of the theoretical yield. |
