N-ALPHA-T-BOC-D-METHIONINE - Introduction
N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-D-methionine is an organic compound whose chemical formula is C13H23NO5S. It is a white solid, soluble in some organic solvents such as dimethylformamide (DMF) and dichloromethane.
N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-D-methionine is an important chiral amino acid derivative. It is often used as a chiral inducer in organic synthesis for the synthesis of organic compounds with specific stereo configurations. It can also be used to synthesize drugs, biologically active molecules and to synthesize heterocyclic compounds.
The preparation method of N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-D-methionine mainly includes two steps. First, methionine reacts with tert-butyl methyl ether ketone (t-butyl methyl) via an acetal reaction to generate the corresponding sulfoxide compound. Then, a protection reaction is performed under a basic condition to protect the carboxyl group as a tert-butoxycarbonyl (Boc) group to obtain the final product N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-D-methionine.
For safety information, N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-D-methionine may cause irritation to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. In the process of use, attention should be paid to avoid contact with skin, eyes and taking, and at the same time, attention should be paid to avoid inhaling its dust. In industrial production and laboratory operations, appropriate safety measures should be taken, such as wearing protective gloves, goggles and protective masks, and ensuring good ventilation conditions. In case of accidental contact or inhalation, wash skin, eyes or respiratory tract immediately and seek medical help if necessary.
