OA-12 - Introduction
Dodecyl tertiary amine oxide (also known as dodecyl aminophenane oxide, abbreviated OXT) is a compound with a variety of chemical and biological activities.
Tertiary dodecyl oxide is a colorless to light yellow liquid with low volatility. It is a very stable compound that can exist over a wide range of temperatures and pH conditions. It has good solubility, soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers, but also soluble in water.
Dodecyl tertiary amine oxide has good surface active properties and is a non-ionic surfactant. It has high emulsifying and dispersing properties, and is often used in cosmetics, personal care products, detergents, detergents and other industrial fields. It can increase the consistency, stability and antistatic properties of the product.
Dodecyl tertiary amine oxide can be prepared by reacting alkyl benzylamine with hydrogen peroxide. The general preparation is the reaction of alkyl benzylamine with hydrogen peroxide solution at the appropriate temperature and pH to obtain the dodecyl tertiary amine oxide. It should be noted that safety measures should be taken during the preparation process to avoid contact and leakage of hydrogen peroxide.
Regarding safety information, tertiary dodecyl oxide is less toxic and less irritating to the skin and eyes. But still need to pay attention to avoid prolonged contact and inhalation, to avoid eating. During use, appropriate protective measures, such as wearing gloves, protective glasses and protective clothing, should be used to reduce the risk of exposure. In case of discomfort or inadvertent contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help.
