Summary:
The dehydration of podophyllol can only obtain β-unsaturated bitter podophyllol, but it passes through the unstable intermediate α-unsaturated podophyllol. In this paper, the process was tracked by 1H-NMR and common computer software, which proved that podophylloin dehydration did undergo the formation of α-unsaturated podophyllol. At the same time, it shows that computer simulation can be effectively used for the analysis of nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum.
