production method | 1. preparation method: add 1g iodine, 500mL glacial acetic acid, phenyl pinacol (2)100g(0.27mol) to a 1L round bottom flask equipped with reflux condenser. Under shaking, slowly heat to boiling, about 5min the solid dissolves, forming a red solution. Immediately transfer the reaction solution to a 1L beaker, cool, precipitate solid, filter, glacial acetic acid wash 2-3 times, until colorless, dry, almost pure compound (1), weight 90-91g, yield 95%-96%,mp178 -179 ℃.
