Use | Phospholipase A2 is a member of the class of heat-stable, calcium-dependent enzymes catalyzing the hydrolysis of the 2-acyl bond of 3-n-phosphoglycerides. The enzyme has a molecular weight of 30,000 daltons. Phospholipase A2 is activated by Ca2 . It is inhibited by zinc, barium, and manganese ions. Activity values for phospholipase A preparations which are derived from titrimetric assay procedures can be quite dependent on source and type of lecithin, its preparation as a substrate emulsion, other components of the reaction mixture, and the method and instrumentation used |
Risk Codes | 36/37/38 - Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. |
Safety Description | S26 - In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. S36 - Wear suitable protective clothing. |
UN IDs | 2811 |

Summary:
objective: to observe the level of serum lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (LP-PLA2) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and to explore its relationship with vascular complications of T2DM and its clinical significance. Methods: 180 patients with T2DM were selected and divided into diabetes mellitus complicated with coronary heart disease group (48 cases), diabetes mellitus complicated with renal disease group (59 cases) and diabetes mellitus group (73 cases). During the same period, 60 healthy subjects were taken as control group. ELISA was used to detect the serum LP-PLA2 levels of the four groups and compare them. Results: the LP-PLA2 level of diabetes in the three groups was significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.05). The LP-PLA2 level of diabetes mellitus complicated with coronary heart disease group and diabetes mellitus complicated with kidney disease group was higher than that of diabetes mellitus pain group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). LP-PLA2 is significantly correlated with low density lipoprotein, body mass index and fasting blood glucose. Conclusion: LP-PLA2 can be used as one of the independent risk factors for diabetes and has certain value in predicting the occurrence of diabetic vascular complications.
