SPIRAMYCIN - Introduction

Biological activity: the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of spiramycin to Staphylococcus aureus in vitro is 0.39 mg/ml, the MIC to pneumococcus, hemolytic streptococcus and streptococcus viridans is 0.1~0.2 mg/ml, and the minimum inhibitory concentration to diphtheria bacillus is 0.04 mg/ml. It also has a certain antibacterial effect on mycoplasma and chlamydia. Helix toxin is a macrolide antibiotic, which has good antibacterial effect on gram-positive bacteria, some gram-negative bacteria, rickettsia, large virus, etc. The mechanism of action and antibacterial spectrum are similar to erythromycin, and the anti-lung bacteria effect is similar to or slightly inferior to erythromycin, but it has a longer post-antibiotic effect (PAE) than it. Cross-resistant to erythromycin. It is effective for gram-positive bacteria and some gram-negative bacteria such as streptococcus, meningococcus, pertussis, Clostridium, etc., including penicillin, streptomycin, tetracycline, and chloramphenicol-resistant bacteria. Effective for rickettsia, etc. Clinically, it has not been shown to be particularly superior to erythromycin.
