TITANIUM(+2)OXIDE - Risk and Safety
TITANIUM(+2)OXIDE - Introduction
Oxygen-containing 52% ~ 54% (atoms). Body-centered cubic structure. Soluble in 40% (mass) hydrofluoric acid. It is easily eroded by hot concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated hydrochloric acid and concentrated nitric acid. It can also be eroded by concentrated alkali. It reacts with 30% (mass) hydrogen peroxide to produce a yellow solution. It is a strong reducing agent. When the air is heated, it is converted into titanium trioxide at 150~200 ℃. Titanium monoxide can be obtained by heating the mixture of metal titanium and titanium dioxide at 1600 ℃ in vacuum, reducing titanium dioxide by hydrogen at 2000 ℃ or reducing titanium dioxide by magnesium at 1000 ℃.
