molybdenum dimeric acetate can be prepared by reacting molybdenum hexacarbonyl with acetic acid in a chlorine gas stream. molybdenum hexacarbonyl is placed in a mixed solution of about 100mL glacial acetic acid and 10mL acetic anhydride, heated at 140~150 ℃ in a nitrogen gas stream, cooled the solution, filtered the crystals in air, washed the crystals with ethanol and ether, and dried in a vacuum dryer to obtain 1.5g molybdenum dimeric acetate with 92% yield.
