TetrahydrocucuMin - Introduction

1,7-bis (heptane-3), 5-dione, also known as HO-TEMPO quinone, is an organic compound. Its molecular formula is C16H21NO5 and its molecular weight is 311.34g/mol.

Nature:
-Appearance: HO-TEMPO quinone is a colorless to light yellow crystalline solid.
-Melting point: about 65-67 ℃.
-Solubility: HO-TEMPO quinone is almost insoluble in water, but easily soluble in organic solvents such as ether, acetone and methanol.

Use:
-Oxidant: HO-TEMPO quinone is a commonly used free radical oxidant, which can be used to oxidize alcohols to corresponding ketones.
-Catalyst: HO-TEMPO quinone can be used as a catalyst for organic synthesis reactions, such as oxidation reactions and hydrogen atom transfer reactions.
-Preservative: HO-TEMPO quinone can be used as a preservative in food, paint, coating and other fields.

Preparation Method:
There are two common ways to prepare HO-TEMPO quinone:
1. The coupling reaction of 1,7-dibromoheptane and 3,4-dimethoxybenzene boronic acid was carried out by copper catalytic reaction.
2. The 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidine hydroxylamine and 3,4-dimethoxybenzeneboronic acid are converted by oxidation reaction.

Safety Information:
HO-TEMPO quinone generally does not pose a major safety hazard under normal operating conditions. However, as a chemical, the following matters still need to be paid attention to when handling:
- HO-TEMPO quinone may be an eye and skin irritant, so wear appropriate protective gloves, goggles and a lab coat when handling.
-Avoid inhaling HO-TEMPO quinone dust or gas, and ensure that you operate in a well-ventilated area.
-When using and storing HO-TEMPO quinone, avoid contact with combustibles to prevent fire.
-If you accidentally inhale or come into contact with HO-TEMPO quinone, immediately flush the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
