Ylangenol - Introduction
Ylangenol(Yangenol) is a natural organic compound found mainly in plants such as bananas, stamens, laurel leaves, and the Iranian tree. It has a special aromatic smell and is often used as an ingredient in Fragrances and Perfumes.
The chemical formula of Ylangenol is C15H24O. It is a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid with low volatility. It has pharmacological activities such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and sedative, and is used in traditional medicine to treat symptoms such as headache, anxiety and insomnia.
Ylangenol can be extracted from plants by distillation, extraction or extraction of essential oils. Non-polar solvents such as diethyl ether or petroleum ether are usually used in the extraction process.
Although Ylangenol is widely used in the perfume and fragrance industry, information on its long-term safety and side effects is still limited. For some people, exposure to Ylangenol may cause allergic reactions such as rashes, irritation, and difficulty breathing. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct a skin allergy test when using Ylangenol and avoid excessive use.
