a-(Carbomethoxyethylidene)triphenylphosphorane - Introduction
Propanoic acid,2-(triphenylphosphoranylidene)-, methyl ester, chemical formula C23H21O2P, is an organic compound.
Nature:
Propanoic acid,2-(triphenylphosphoranylidene)-, methyl ester is a colorless liquid with a faint special smell at room temperature. It has a density of about 1.15 g/mL and a boiling point of about 374°C. It is soluble in organic solvents, such as ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide, and practically insoluble in water.
Use:
Propanoic acid,2-(triphenylphosphoranylidene)-, methyl ester is widely used in organic synthesis, especially as an important intermediate for lithium-ion batteries and fluorescent dyes. It can also be used as an organic synthesis catalyst and two-photon absorption material.
Method:
Propanoic acid,2-(triphenylphosphoranylidene)-, methyl ester is prepared by a relatively simple method. A common preparation method is to react phenylphosphonic acid with formyl chloride to produce 2-(triphenylphosphino) propionic acid, which is then reacted with methanol to produce Propanoic acid,2-(triphenylphosphoranylidene)-, methyl ester.
Safety Information:
Propanoic acid,2-(triphenylphosphoranylidene)-, methyl ester is irritating and has certain flammability. Care should be taken to prevent contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes during use or handling. At the same time, appropriate protective measures should be taken, such as wearing protective gloves and glasses, ensuring good ventilation and avoiding inhalation of vapors. When stored, should be away from fire and oxidant, and stored in a cool, dry place.
