BERYLLIUM SULFATE is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula BeSO4 and a molecular weight of 105.07g/mol. It is a colorless crystalline solid, insoluble in water at room temperature, but soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid. Beryllium sulfate is highly toxic and corrosive.
Beryllium sulfate is mainly used as an experimental reagent and catalyst in the laboratory. It is often used as a catalyst in organic synthesis reactions, such as the synthesis of polyethylene glycol and synthetic fatty acids. In addition, beryllium sulfate can also be used as a raw material for the fine chemical and electronic industries.
A common method for preparing beryllium sulfate is to react beryllium hydroxide with sulfuric acid.
